How To Create An Outline

FICTION 

CHAPTER ONE:

•INTRODUCE THE PROTAGONIST 

•DESCRIBE THE SETTING 

•ESTABLISH THE PLOT  

•INTRODUCE CONFLICT    

CHAPTER TWO:

•BACK STORY ON PROTAGONIST  

•INTRODUCE/DESCRIBE ANTAGONIST 

•DEVELOP PLOT   

•ADD DIMENSION TO PROTAGONIST   

CHAPTER THREE:

•INTRODUCE SUPPORTING CAST (IF ANY)  

•FORESHADOW  

•INSIGHT ON ANTAGONIST PLOT    

NON-FICTION: 

•IDENTIFY YOUR MESSAGES 

•IDENTIFY YOUR TARGET AUDIENCE 

•TELL YOUR READER WHAT THE MESSAGE IS

•TELL THEM WHY YOU ARE QUALIFIED TO TELL THE MESSAGE

•TELL THEM WHAT HEARING THE MESSAGE WILL DO FOR THEM  

•MAKE EACH POINT A CHAPTER 

       •ANTEDOTE 

       •LESSON 

       •CHALLENGE
